A training programme devised to show how the tools of management are applied.

Introduction

In order to be successful organizations must understand how changes in their competitive environment, some of which they may have started and others to which they will have to react to are unfolding – they must be must be strategically aware. This process of managing the business strategically is not something that many companies are thought to be very good at, resulting in a lack of strategic clarity.

Most training programmes are designed to give managers the tools to deal with this changing environment, but knowledge of the tools does not mean that you can use them and it is this aspect that this new programme addresses.

Programme Structure

Rather than have modules such as planning, organizing or motivating the programme looks at four arenas of use:

  • Strategic awareness
  • Strategic creation
  • Strategic leadership
  • Strategic implementation

In each of these arenas there are three distinct, but inter¬related and interdependent, levels of strategy: corporate (the whole organization), competitive (the distinct strategy for each constituent busi¬ness, product or service in the organization) and functional (the activities which underpin the competitive strategies).

Each of these four modules stand alone and can be taken as a one of course or taken as part of and integrated programme. Every module is one day long and comes with pre-course work and post-course exercises to facilitate individual ongoing development.
