Devised for people who are new to supervisory management or who have had no formal training in supervisory skills.

Course Outline

This course covers all the key areas a supervisor has to cope with. Clear guidelines are given on each topic discussed, building into a comprehensive approach to the important role of the supervisor in the workplace today. Enabling participants to motivate, manage and take charge of projects and people.

  • The role of the supervisor
  • Assertiveness and communication skills in the workplace
  • Controlling former colleagues and establishing boundaries
  • Managing time effectively
  • Setting targets, planning workflow and performance monitoring
  • Delegating and relaying positive constructive criticism
  • Developing teams and dealing with meetings and team briefings
  • Controlling absenteeism, time-keeping and disciplinary procedures
  • Leadership, team motivation and problem solving
  • Compiling and implementing future action plans.

Method of Training

The ‘Tell-show-do’ method of training would be used with formal input, cases studies and role plays. With 15 people in the group a series of workshop situations would be used to demonstrate the principles, with staged revision exercises and final role plays.
